Cut pistes down the fall line, string lifts to the summits, and keep thousands of skiers happy through storms, thaws and powder days.
Every map is built from how real resorts in its region sit in the land: a village on a valley floor, a station high in a lake basin, a town on a sunny terrace above a deep valley, a volcano rising from farmland. Neighbouring valleys sit over the cols, waiting for you to link them.
Towers go where the terrain needs them. Each lift has its own capacity, speed and wind limit, so a gale shuts the gondola while the T-bar keeps running. Add a mid-station halfway up and skiers start using the middle of the mountain.
Hotels fill when the snow is good. Bakeries, après bars, a spa and an ice rink bring guests back. Cars and ski buses run the valley road, and when the snow melts, hikers and bikers take over the lifts.
Building is quick and visual. Running the place is where it gets interesting: water for the snow guns, groomers on the night shift, avalanche control after a storm, ticket prices against the rival resort, staff, loans, and seasons that get a little warmer every year. Every guest has a skill level and an opinion, and tells you what they think.
